04:51 pm - The Contract
THE CONTRACT

by sagestar

Clause 5, subsection 2

Never ever tell or the party in question dies.

Not the cane, not today - you.

I didn't even remember her.

A good day to soak up the sun.

This journal has one entry. It lists all the wonderful stories that have grown out of the little story that you can't kill off with a shovel.

I think we are up to about 24 stories (pluys The K), two soft toys and one quiz (which I only got ninety percent for - shows what I know).

All written by much more talented people than me: people who have never written before have picked up their pens - soldiers, students, journalists; the alternate universes... the stories inspired by stories from The K.

The K-Verse is now over one million words and heading for its second. I am responsible for about one percent of this. I'm just happy that I played a little part.

If anyone wants to add - please add a link or get in touch with me.

For the uninitiated: The Contract is a fonking great House/Wilson fan fiction friendship story. Here is the teaser...

Agony and wood were all he was aware of. He imagined the pain throbbing through his body was making the wooden floorboards vibrate. He laughed silently and hysterically: He was a human piano of pain. House the human piano of pain.

(and for the Germans here it is - translated by the lovely Chaoskir:
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5017898/1/)

It ain't exactly pretty. But it apparently makes all sorts of wonderful people pick up their pens and start writing. So here is a list of all the related stories.

Companion piece one: Lifeline http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2896318/1/ by the lovely Troopercam. This basically a side by side account of what happens, fills in bits here and there and takes the story a bit further on time wise. Whacking involved so definitely not Poeia compatible (that means nasty stuff happens). Quite long.

Companion piece two: http://one-the-larch.livejournal.com/4113.html#cutid1 by the lovely One The Larch. This is a short piece from the perspective of the fellows during the early days of The Contract. Poeia compatible (that means no nasty whacking stuff). Quite short. Although the link appears to be having problems.

Companion piece three: Exigencies http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3388312/1/ by the lovely Priority. House has to get better at some point. Priority picks up after 'the milkshake thang' and explores House as he goes back to work. Looks back on the whacking, but quite safe. Quite long.

And now we have a sequel to Priority's story by another talented writer whose name I have forgotten because I have the memory of a Goldfish:

http://zeppomarx.livejournal.com/800.html That's it - the lovely  Zeppomarx.  In this there is even more delving into the evil Mr Thompson and introduced an original character called Rainie. This one tells us about how no one was safe from Mr Crazy Man Thompson.

And another one shot by the talented Maineac called somethingerother, which is also set post Contract and post Exegencies. House learns to smile: http://maineac.livejournal.com/6824.html?view=309416#t309416

Then Priority wrote this creepy little bit involving a pencil and I created this little AU Contractverse vingette involving House and a paddling pool: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3512955/1/ Definitely not Poeia compatible - very creepy, but quite short.

Then Alex decided to run with that idea and we have Pencils are Dangerous:

http://alex51324.livejournal.com/32577.html#cutid1
, http://alex51324.livejournal.com/32965.html#cutid1 , http://alex51324.livejournal.com/33435.html, http://alex51324.livejournal.com/34196.html#cutid1
http://alex51324.livejournal.com/34598.html#cutid1 There are more chapters, but I'll wait a bit until Alex pulls them all together as it's WIP. This one's a long one.

Not really Poeia Compatible, but sort of hopeful.

And there's sagestar's take on the wierd creepy pencil story, Dreams and Darkness: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5021309/1/Dreams_and_Darkness A short one shot.

And KathainBowen has added a little one shot to Alex's Pencils story. The Kindness of Strangers looks at friendship, loss, recovery and rats. Short, Poeia compatible:  http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5299378/1/The_Kindness_of_Strangers

Back to the original: Companion piece four (which is really a companion piece to companion piece three: Recovery http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3428758/1/ by the lovely wih. This one is set five months after Exigencies and in which House gets betterer and betterer. Mentions of past whacking, but still quite up beat. Quite short.

And companion piece five by boonadducious called When the Rails Converge: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3557391/1/ This one is quite short and is about House confronting his contractverse demons. Poeia compatible.

And we also have Mr Vicodin by Wihlutahttp://wihluta.livejournal.com/2485.html who came from this bit about John House I added in later: http://diysheep.livejournal.com/18667.html#cutid1 called Daddy Dearest. Very short. Poeia compatible, but not really fun or upbeat.

But if you want to know the truth about Mr Vicodin read Wihluta's How House Found Mr Vicodin and How They All Ended Up Living Happily:  http://wihluta.livejournal.com/16465.html?#cutid1  Poeia compatible, very sweet, but with mentions of nastiness. Shortish - but longish.

Hib also takes a look at Mr V in Lost and Found: in which Mr V goes missing: http://hibernia1.livejournal.com/3051.html but is rescued in the end. A little one shot, very sweet and compatible for Poeias of all ages.

But don't miss the follow on, The Replacement, in which Mr V has a terrible accident: http://hibernia1.livejournal.com/3309.html?view=8429#t8429 Short, sweet and Poeia compatible.

And asnightbird tells of House finding Mr V after a few years: http://asnightbird.livejournal.com/15710.html?view=37470#t37470 Safe for Poeias everywhere. Very short.

And then again you can always take The Contract quiz: http://www.gotoquiz.com/do_you_know_the_contract   I am not kidding - it exists. And I only scored 90%. I felt a bit miffed by that.

And of course you can't forget the lovely Julia Bohemian's vingettes about crazy House: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3745135/1/Lullaby  Relatively shortish and no whacking - oh now there is - beware daddy issues. Later chapters are not for Poeias.

Also - just to confuse the matter we have another one, this was the original middle bit for The Contract in which we discover much more about Crazy Old Man Thompson. Very very not Poeia Compatible and eight thousand words and and a little different. You sort of have to shove this into the middle of the original story and imagine. The Contract's Missing Scenes by the sheephttp://www.fanfiction.net/s/2798672/2/ This is an idea I was just too lazy to run with.

And there is also i'mfreakinorange's Physical. This one is about how Wilson copes with looking after a very damaged House. Very short and sooo not Poeia safe. I think freakin even hacks off one of House's hands:  http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3621799/1/

But don't forget Wih's Hands: http://community.livejournal.com/house_wilson/1609826.html#cutid1

And  http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4293466/1/Broken_Contract by Akylae.

This one is getting really big now. Lots of hurt/comfort while House gets his life back together.

Some people have asked about the actual contract. I have never written the actual contract out because I don't write contracts unless you pay me - they take ages and you have to get the wording right. I'll just leave it up to you to imagine it. Less work for me.

Little things by Cosmicmagnolia: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4560151/1/Little_Things

This is about little things that happen as House gets better under Wilson's care. It's grown quite big now. Not really Poeia compatible, but very hopeful.

And don't forget Mr Vicodin in the flesh: http://wihluta.livejournal.com/2485.html

And of course don't forget hibernia's story based on Alex's Pencil idea: Wilson's letters - http://hibernia1.livejournal.com/20918.html

Short and sweet. For Poeias everywhere.

And Troop's little take on finding House in prison called Joe's Story: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4524151/1/Joes_Story

It's Poeia compatible and the perspective is unique and very much Troops.

And don't forget sagestar's beautiful video trailer for the original K: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DR4vmO3fH_8 Very funky music.

Plus That's Odd by sagestar: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5027810/1/Thats_Odd Sad, but Poiea safe.

And a new one from Indigo Night and Rayne Storm - Unbroken: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5204936/1/Unbroken This little story looks at how House survived during prison. Poeia compatable.

* Poeia Compatible means it won't give you nightmares and there is little or no whacking involved.

...

Once again I cannot say how lucky I am to have such a wonderful bunch of people who read, reviewed and written (House was lucky to have you help him get better).
